Bilateral Music for Meditation
Bilateral Meditation
Bilateral meditation is an expansion on the science behind bilateral stimulation used in trauma therapy to access and heal deeply recessed parts of the mind. (see Bessel Van der Kock, The Body Keeps the Score). Bilateral meditation uses rhythmic, alternating sounds in the left and right ears to stimulate left-right brain synchronization for deeper healing, integration, and personal evolution.
How-to-Use
Bilateral meditation depends on stereo separation of sounds. For maximum results, completely separate sounds to the left and right ear with a good pair of stereo headphones. Find a comfortable place where you can relax uninterrupted and drift with the sounds, allowing your attention to naturally move with the music.
The bilateral stimulation is designed to bring up thoughts and emotions that are preventing flow in clarity. Rather than reacting to arising thoughts and emotions, simply observe them. Observe them with no need to change them and then return to drifting in the center of your being, as though on a cloud.
Meditative Journey
While whole brain synchronization can be used for a variety of purposes, the stimulation of the brain in a deep trance-like state can simulate the insights and healing effects of psychedelics, creating a “journey” of the mind. However, meditative journeys are more gentle than psychedelics, encouraging doors of the mind to open in a way that is softer on the body and easier for the mind to integrate. The specific instruments used and the chordal progressions intimated create the setting for the journey.
Healing the Physical World
In his second experience in Bringing Heaven Home, Brent saw the programs operative in matter that manifest in the experience of a state separate from what we experienced before this life. It is his hope, that tools like Bilateral Meditation can help with healing not only the mind, but the physical world in which we live, leading to a deeper experience of heaven in this life. Brent’s first bilateral meditation, Liberi Sumus: The Karmic Journey, was composed as a musical metaphor for the teachings in the book.
Other Artists
As of 2026, Remko Arentz is the only other composer that we know of who creates hour-long bilateral meditation music. Remko’s music is frequently used by Dr. Joe Dispenza, one of the foremost teachers on meditation, manifestation, and spontaneous healing. Two of Remko’s most effective tracks in our experience are Trance and Transcendence, both of which can be found on Spotify.
